TRANSCEND SERIES

Hari Lualhati’s fourth series titled “Transcend” will launch her latest masterpieces which she calls her “SOULWORKS” (instead of artworks) because according to her, they are they are not just artworks, they are souls represented in art. She considers her SOULWORKS as a direct connection to her soul and a great representation of the things that matters to her that she wants to share to the viewers.

The concept of her latest series revolves around powerful life lessons, aha moments and realizations she’ve gained from life.
“These are those “Moments” that made huge impact in my life and have taught me to be a better version of myself. I would like to preserve and pass these lessons and inspirations to others through the best way I can and that is through my soulworks. I believe that we are all connected as human beings and that we share the same emotions. I hope that the audience could see part of themselves through my soulworks and hopefully connect to them and inspire them to have a more positive outlook in life. “- Hari Lualhati

BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED

Medium: Oil on Canvas

Size: Height: 121.92cm Width: 88.9 cm Depth: 3.5cm

Artist: Hari Lualhati

“I've learned from life that sometimes, once you know that you’ve done everything you can and you’ve given your best for your goal/dream… instead of desperately fighting uncontrollable situations, the next better step is to surrender it to something greater than you (to God if you are a believer, to Allah, to the Universe, to whoever you believe in) and then go with the flow. This is being represented in the painting by the fishes swimming on the grass symbolising the state of being out of comfort zone. Embrace and always make the best of whatever life throws at you, in that way you will blossom (like the protea flowers in the painting, blossoming from the heart of the subject) and will emerge as a better version of yourself.” - Hari Lualhati

BECOMING A PRAYER

Medium: Oil on Canvas

Size: Height: 121.92cm Width: 88.9 cm Depth: 3.5cm

Artist: Hari Lualhati

In this painting you can see that the subject is lying on a tree stump/cut tree. For me, a cut tree/ tree stump symbolizes a loss of something, either material things, loved ones, relationship or  being in a difficult situation. A proverb says, “while the blanket is short, learn to bend or learn to sleep with your legs folded”.  That has been the inspiration why my subject’s legs are folded; it symbolizes that she is adjusting to whatever situation she’s in instead of complaining about her problems.

If you will focus on her face, it looks like she is contemplating on her inner thoughts. With her eyes closed, it symbolizes that she is not looking at whatever she lacks that “the problem” is pointing out to her, instead she focuses on her thoughts. This idea has been inspired by my realisation that whenever we experience problems, it’s so easy to dwell or nurture anger and sadness within us, but those will not help us, instead they will only make us miserable. At times like this, we must be very careful on the thoughts that we will nurture inside our hearts, as much as possible we must try to focus on positive thoughts. It can start by being grateful for whatever you have, like your health or the fact that you are still alive. Once we acknowledge that gratitude, it will be easier for us to think of other positive things in our lives. Just like the birds in this painting that are flying towards the subject, they symbolize positive energy and love. They found a nest or a home in the subject’s heart because she exudes positivity and her heart overflows with love. So the message in this painting “Becoming a Prayer” is, we must be a filter that only sees positivity in every situation, most especially at difficult times; because we attract the same type of energy we throw out in this world.” - Hari Lualhati

BRAVE HEART

Medium: Oil on Canvas

Size: Height: 121.92cm Width: 88.9 cm Depth: 3.5cm

Artist: Hari Lualhati

This painting is about being brave, courageous and persistent towards following your heart/passion (without hurting anybody else and by having a pure/good  intention) and keeping that flame burning inside your heart.

By following our hearts, we will always encounter people who will not support us, people who will try to drag us down, people who will be jealous at us or talk negative things behind our back. These negativities are being symbolized by the wolves at the background that are looking at the subject like it’s a prey that they want to eat and destroy. In life, I’ve learned that it’s natural to encounter these types of negativities. Whenever I feel that I’m being surrounded by so much negativities, I’ve learned to remind myself that I am the one in control of my thoughts and I’m the one in control of my life. We should never allow other people’s negativity to enter us, affect our way of living, or worst, kill the fire that’s burning inside our hearts. When this fire in your heart grows, when you reach the success in your career or when you become happy due to following your heart, the flame inside you will become so huge that the wolves will be scared to get close to you and it will keep you shining bright because your glow is coming from a place of love, peace and happiness. Stay focus on what makes you happy and do what gives meaning to your life.” - Hari Lualhati

THE LAST MIRACLE

Medium: Oil on Canvas

Size: Height: 121.92cm Width: 88.9 cm Depth: 3.5cm

Artist: Hari Lualhati

First interpretation: Rhinos are known to be endangered, especially here in South Africa. I support campaigns that save and protect rhinos against people who kill them for their horns.

Second interpretation: I believe that everyone is born with a good side in their heart. We must consult this good side in us wherever we encounter difficult issues in our lives. This part in our heart is also becoming endangered (just like a rhino) in the sense that it’s hard for us to find it or to recognize it at times of difficulties. Whenever we are trapped in a problem, just like being illustrated in the painting, instead of consulting that goodness inside our heart, oftentimes we immediately get blinded by anger and depression that lead us to making decisions that complicate our lives. As it helped me in the past, I would suggest to relax our emotions, breathe deeply, calm ourselves, step back from the problem, and try to look at the problem from a different perspective. Then analyze and ask yourself what do your really want in life? If there’s a thought within you saying that all you want is love and peace, then I believe that is the voice coming from that good side of your heart. I would suggest that you follow the path that will lead you closer to peace and love. Try to drop off any anger or depression by accepting the current situation. If we will consult that goodness in our heart, it will help us  make better decisions.

Just like an endangered rhino that needs protection, we must also protect that goodness inside our hearts by not allowing any negative thoughts to pollute it and even on simple/everyday decision-making, make it a habit to consult that goodness in you that is being led by love and peace, that way, it will make your life way lighter and much enjoyable.” - Hari Lualhati

WHEN SPARKS FLY

Medium: Oil on Canvas

Size: Height: 121.92cm Width: 88.9 cm Depth: 3.5cm

Artist: Hari Lualhati

For a long time, I've been influenced by other people's  views of what success is, namely money and fame. So I set  my dreams toward that direction and it has made me tired, unhappy and incomplete. I knew then that it's not the path towards my dream. So I contemplated and sought  inside my heart and listened carefully to  what it's trying to tell me.  The idea of becoming a full time painter (which has always been there ever since I was a kid but I didn't pursue it due to being scared of the challenges I may encounter) caused a spark inside me. It has brought me back to the same feeling of excitement I first felt when I was dreaming of it during my childhood. It's something I have so much passion for and will be willing to do even if there's no money involved. Because this drive came from the same muscle that pumps my blood to keep me alive; I'm sure it will also ignite my spark/dream for a lifetime and with this, everything is POSSIBLE.

Everyday, I keep on igniting that spark, trying to better myself. Despite all the challenges, I aim for excellence  on every level and keep my lantern of dreams soaring high .

I've learned that a dream doesn't necessarily needs to be associated with fame or fortune, it can be as simple as living a peaceful life or pursuing your passion. What's important is to listen to what your heart tells you to do.” - Hari Lualhati
